According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, to plagiarize is to "to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (another's production) without crediting the source."
What is copyright?
According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, copyright refers to "the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, sell, or distribute the matter and form of something (as a literary, musical, or artistic work)."
Plagiarism and using copyrighted materials without permission is strictly prohibited. This is important in all school subjects, but especially in English and Social Studies.
